Understanding that mystery surrounds, holds, and grounds us even though we don’t always notice it, spiritual direction with Michelle prioritizes contemplation, silence, and deep listening. Reflective questions are used to guide the conversation to the heart. Every person is held with compassion and offered a non-judgmental, open, and welcoming environment to explore matters of the Spirit.
Your spiritual journey is unique and sacred. Your daily life provides the material for our exploration. I listen closely with you to notice the movements of Mystery/Spirit/God in your life.
Silence is one of the most effective methods for hearing that still, small voice. Yet, opportunities for silence are quite often missed in one’s daily life. In short periods of shared silence during spiritual direction, we actively listen to the heart’s yearnings.
All who are interested in engaging with the inner life are welcome. You will find an open, affirming, non-judgmental, compassionate, confidential listener in me as a spiritual director.
We begin wherever you are in your spiritual journey. No specific religious beliefs or even belief in God are required. People of diverse or no religious faith and traditions are welcome.
You are sacred and worthy of respect. Your life and experiences will always be met with compassion. I can easily empathize as someone whose journey has seen many peaks and valleys.
You may feel alone or disconnected in our fast-paced, individualistic culture. Spiritual Direction may assist in re-establishing a connection to the Divine as to community. Spiritual direction provides a gentle reminder that you are not alone.

Spiritual direction is a contemplative practice in which we listen deeply to your life and the Spirit's movement. Each person's experience is unique. The topics you bring to the session guide the direction we take. As a spiritual director, I accompany you in your growing relationship with the transcendent through deeply listening and offering reflective questions.
There are many reasons for seeking spiritual direction, such as a desire to listen more closely to God’s calling on your life, to explore new or different spiritual practices, to deepen your prayer life, and to enter a period of discernment are few common reasons. If you want to explore meaning in your life, uncover your deepest, truest self, or become more open to the presence and movement of the sacred in your life, then spiritual direction may be for you.
No particular belief is required for spiritual direction to be beneficial. People of diverse faiths and traditions, both religious and non-religious, find spiritual direction helpful. Anyone with a desire to engage life more deeply, to explore this mystery we call life, our connection with the transcendent, or our interdependence with all beings may wish to begin spiritual direction.
A good resource for finding a spiritual director is through the recommendation of friends, coworkers, family, and others you know. Other resources are the Spiritual Directors International searchable directory and directories offered by particular faith traditions, such as the Unitarian Universalist Spiritual Directors Network. Finding a spiritual director with whom you feel comfortable sharing your sacred journey is essential. Sometimes, it is helpful to have a spiritual director who shares some of the same type of life experiences as you.
