I was as born in St. Paul, MN, lived in Chicago for 9 years attending graduate school, and now live in the Nashville, TN area. I hold several degrees from a community college, a Lutheran Liberal Arts College, a Catholic University, a Unitarian Universalist Theological School, and an ecumenical interfaith spiritual direction program.
My educational and professional background is in the Sociology of Religion and Applied Research. My research focused on intimate partner violence and then the ministry and higher education for one of the largest US denominations.
I am a nature and animal lover. I grew up with pets and always have them in my own home. Currently, we live with two dogs, two cats who tolerate us, two goldfish, and 22 tarantulas (my husband is an arachnid hobbyist).
I enjoy being in the woods – walking, camping, hiking, sitting and listening, watching birds, and collecting rocks. Our favorite thing is to explore new places. I am an avid reader. I practice Yoga fairly regularly, learn about and engage in various spiritual practices, and often become interested in new crafts.
I am a spiritual seeker who was not raised in a religious tradition yet has always been intrigued by spirituality. My path has covered a wide range of explorations including evangelical Christianity, atheism, and agnosticism, before entering Alcoholics Anonymous and finding Unitarian Universalism. My spiritual life is informed by Alcoholics Anonymous, Process Relational Theology and Unitarian Universalism. I found a God of my own understanding, a power greater than myself in AA. I understand God is always present with us, inviting us into a deeper relationship and connection with the Universe.
